The majority of gypsum exports from Semnan to China are conducted through the Bandar Abbas port and Shahid Rajaei Dock, from where the cargo is shipped by freight vessels to various ports in this vast country.

Exporting Gypsum to India:

India utilizes Semnan gypsum in various fields, and one of the most important applications is the use of Semnan micro gypsum for producing various composite gypsum products. India is highly capable of producing gypsum additives for obtaining gypsum with new and unique properties, and they export their produced composite gypsum at a much higher price (with high added value) to worldwide destinations.

Among other uses of Semnan gypsum in India, it is used in the porcelain molding and ceramics industry, as well as in the construction industry for manufacturing gypsum boards or drywall.

One common industry in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region is the production of prefabricated plastering walls and plastring ceilings, and Iraqi artists are highly skilled and innovative in this field.

In recent years, Semnan gypsum has gained a special position in Afghanistan and has contributed to the construction industry in the country. Semnan gypsum is used for interior wall finishes such as wall plastering and ceiling plastering, as well as for plastering walls, columns, and ceilings. Another product that has been exported to Afghanistan in the past 2 years and has been well received is Alpha powder or Alpha plaster, which is used in the production of various stone accessories, artificial stone, interior stone facades, railings, etc.

Exporting Gypsum to Middle Eastern countries

Middle Eastern countriessuch as Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan:

Exporting gypsum to Middle Eastern countries has had its ups and downs in recent years. Our company has been able to export gypsum to some of these countries, with Turkmenistan being the most significant. However, it should be noted that exporting to Turkmenistan has specific conditions, and their requested product is a type of composite gypsum, primarily consisting of Satin plaster, Siva plaster, and Gypton plaster.

It is worth mentioning that due to Iran’s relations with Middle Eastern countries in recent years, some multinational companies have established workshops in Iran, purchased Semnan gypsum, and after transportation to their workshops, combined it with other additives and exported it to Middle Eastern countries such as Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan under their own brand names.

Gypsum Export to Russia

Considering the quality and price of Semnan gypsum, as well as having maritime borders and the possibility of sea transportation from Iranian ports to Russian ports, it has created the opportunity for easy shipment of Semnan

gypsum. This has attracted special attention from Russian companies to this high-demand product. In Russia, Semnan gypsum is mostly used for the production of gypsum board or drywall and prefabricated gypsum walls. They also use alpha powder or alpha plaster for making interior stone accessories and various types of artificial stone facades. In recent years, we have also received requests from some Russian companies for raw gypsum stone, which, after being approved by the analysis of that country, has been exported by our company for industrial and construction purposes. Various composite gypsums are also used for specific purposes in that country.

Another export product to Russia that is highly popular is gypsum board or drywall, which provides a large and attractive market for producers of this product. Our company has had continuous collaboration in recent years in supplying raw materials to some gypsum board or drywall factories.

 Gypsum Export to Armenia:

Armenia has been using a special type of Semnan gypsum known as filter gypsum for a long time. Obtaining this product requires a specific process, and its production is limited. This gypsum is used for making various jointing compounds (usually for jointing gypsum board or drywall in ceilings and walls).

In recent years, there has been limited use of micronized gypsum from Semnan with a mesh size of 200 for some composite productions and other uses as well.

It is worth mentioning that our production company (due to having multiple mines) has had the honor of exporting approved agricultural gypsum to Armenia for the first time this year, which has been well received.

The most important trade border between Iran and Armenia is the Norduz border.

 Export of Gypsum to the Persian Gulf Region:

 Countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and others in the Persian Gulf region 

Countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and others in the Persian Gulf region have always been major importers of mineral resources and their derivatives due to their proximity to Iran and the lack of mineral resources in their own territories. Among these countries, Semnan gypsum has been highly regarded and utilized for various purposes due to its excellent quality and reasonable price. Here, we briefly mention some of these products.

1-Export of agricultural gypsum to the United Arab Emirates for soil improvement and fertility enhancement for agricultural and green purposes.

2-Export of micronized gypsum with different particle sizes (mesh 200 and 150) to Kuwait for construction, decorative, plastering, and other purposes (this type of gypsum has higher consumption in Kuwait).

3- Export of various composite gypsums such as Satin, Siva, Gipton, etc., for construction purposes (this type of gypsum has higher consumption in the United Arab Emirates).

4-Shipment of gypsum with mesh sizes 80, 100, 120, 150 with approved analysis (this gypsum is used as a raw material for construction purposes, gypsum board or drywall production, gypsum walls, etc.).)

5- Export of various Semnan white gypsum for the production of gypsum board or drywall, gypsum walls, prefabricated walls, etc.

6-Export of alpha powder to the United Arab Emirates for the production of stone products, sculptures, and various artificial stones.

Exports to the Persian Gulf countries are usually carried out through important ports such as Bandar-e Khorramshahr, Bandar Abbas, Bandar Imam Khomeini, Bandar Jask, and others.

The required packaging for these countries is usually in 25 and 30-kilogram bags. Depending on customer requests, the bags may need to be placed in jumbo bags before being sent.

Considering Iran’s location in relation to the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and the availability of this valuable mineral resource with its quality and purity, with increased marketing and negotiations, it is possible to expect a significantly improved export market.

Regarding export markets that I have collaborated with on a temporary basis but have not yet turned into permanent markets and have great potential for collaboration, I briefly mention:

Export of gypsum to Pakistan:

Due to the shared border and high consumption of gypsum in the construction industry in Pakistan, it can be considered the most important export market for Semnan gypsum.

 Export of gypsum to Africa:

Some African countries have shown interest in Iranian composite and polymer gypsum, especially Semnan gypsum, in the past years. However, due to specific export conditions, exports to these countries are currently either zero or very limited. It is expected that with improved conditions, exports of composite gypsum and alpha powder or alpha plaster can have a significant market in these countries.

 

Export of gypsum to Syria:

Similar to Iraq, Syria can be an important export market for Semnan gypsum. Considering the ongoing construction projects and Iran’s presence in the country, it is expected that in the near future, exports of Iranian gypsum, especially Semnan gypsum, to Syria will increase significantly.
